Website Version 2.0

The new-and-improved SHS Class of 1982 website is now online and ready to support our 30th anniversary reunion.  Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming reunion.  We will be communicating via this website, the new mailing list, and social media.  Here are a few notes regarding new website.

People Pages

The top-level People Page is a collection of our senior yearbook photos with links to individual People Pages. There is one of these for each classmate who provided a bio for the 2002 reunion. The individual People Pages are now password protected to safeguard privacy.

SHS and Class of 1982 alumni information

SHS Class of 1982 folks:
Here are a couple of items for your consideration:

— SHS alumni directory
See the forwarded email (below) from Jackie Krueger (SHS business instructor and webmaster) concerning an online alumni directory that she is assembling.  Please consider contributing your information to this directory by emailing her.

— SHS Class of 1982 website
I put our class website back online a few months ago.  There have as yet been no changes since the 20th class reunion in 2002.  I’m working on some additions and improvements to the site in preparation for the 25th reunion.  I was planning to send an announcement email when I had the updates posted; however, this seems like an opportune time to let y’all know that the website is once again online.  The new URL is:
http://shs1982.engelland.us/

Many of you have individual “bio” pages on this site.  Please review these and send me any additions or corrections that you would like posted.  I would also be interested in any photos you may have from the 20th reunion.

Stay tuned for additional updates to the SHS 1982 website and news regarding the next reunion.
Thanks,
Shawn

Subject: Alumni Info

We are in the process of developing an Alumni Page for the USD 376 web site. Recently, I have received e-mails from several graduates of SHS who have viewed our web site and  expressed a desire to learn the whereabouts of classmates. The Alumni Page will be a simple design, providing names and e-mail addresses to give people the opportunity to get in touch with alumni and former students. The page will also include a short form viewers can fill out and submit to get their name and address added to the list. We need some alumni information to get the page going initially. Would you like to have your name and home or school e-mail address listed? If so, please send me that information as well as information for relatives, friends, or former classmates you know of who would want to be included. The info needed is simply Name, E-mail Address, and Year of Graduation (or year attended if not a graduate.) Thanks for your help!

2002 Reunion – Letter #2

From: Deb Preheim
Subject: class reunion update
Date: Sun, 19 May 2002 14:54:13 -0500

Hello fellow classmates. Thank you so much for responding to our first letter. Con and I met on Friday and got a few things nailed down.

On Saturday, August 31, we will meet at The Anchor Inn on Main Street in Hutchinson at 6:30 for a buffet meal. This is for classmates and spouses only. The buffet price is approx. $7.50 each. This includes tax and gratuity. You will be in charge of all alcohol bills on your own. Pop, tea, and water comes with the meal. They said we can stay and chat all we want. The next day we will meet at the Sterling Lake with our families at 1:00. We will have Hog Wild barbeque cater this meal in. The cost will be $9.00 for 12 yrs. and over, $3.00 for 4-12yrs., and 3 and under will eat free. Starting at 3:00 on Sunday, Jerry Bourgain will open his Emporium downtown for us. This is a historical building that he has started. He will have several pictures on hand that might be of interest. We will also have the high school open at that time too. Some of us haven’t seen it since the jr. high has moved to the high school.

We will be sending out a form for you to fill out and send back with your money for the meals. Don’t look for this until about July. It will need to be returned by August 1 so we can get things finalized on numbers. If you have any questions or ideas please contact me.

Con and I are having a great time hearing from everyone. We still can’t find Stacey Hamous, Teresa Inman, Robert Johnson, Laura Lawrez, Margaret Kemp, Pathama Kijprasert, Robert Torres, Danny Phillips, Sharon Powell, Tracy Savage, Dea Sloan, Curt Wyborny, or Jon Klassen. Any ideas?

This summer Connie and Drew are gone on harvest, so if you have any questions, please email me since they won’t have internet in the wheat fields. Make note that my e-mail has changed to xxxx. Don’t you just love those computer companies? Please keep checking Shawn’s website (http://shs1982.engelland.us/) that he has designed for us. If changes happen we will post it on there. Thanks Shawn for your work on this. If you haven’t added your personal info on this website, I encourage you to do so. We all enjoy seeing what you’ve been up to.

Talk more later.
Deb

2002 Reunion – Letter #1

From: DREW & CONNIE FREDERICK
Subject: Class Reunion
Date: Sat, 2 Mar 2002 08:23:10 -0600

Hello fellow 1982 classmates of Sterling High School,

I know that Mr. Kilgore would not approve the letter heading and style, but you’ll have to excuse my bad memory of how to do that properly. We are planning a reunion for Labor Day weekend of 2002. What we are asking from you is some input of what you would like to do. We could have either a one-day or two-day celebration, include our children or not, or split that. How much money do you want to spend? Should we rent a place in Hutch for a place to eat and dance or just stay in Sterling and have it catered? Any suggestions? We are open to ideas as of now, but depending on responses, we will go ahead with what the majority wants.

If you have addresses for Margaret Kemp, Pathama Kijprasert, or Bobby Torres, we would appreciate your sending them our way. Also, if you know of any other classmates (in addition to those who actually graduated with our class) who would be interested in attending, please let us know about them.

Shawn is in the process of trying to set up a website where our class info can be posted. We will update you with that information as he makes progress.

Even if you have no strong opinions as to the celebration plans, we would appreciate a prompt response so that we can get an idea of the interest level. We also want to know for sure that you’ve received our message and that we have correct address information-please include mailing address, phone, and names of spouse and children, and email address if possible.

Please send your responses to the following

Deb Preheim   or   Drew & Connie Frederick

Thanks for your help!!
Your planning committee, Deb & Connie
